There’s a unique kind of freedom that comes from boarding a plane with just your board bag, a few essentials, and a one-way ticket to somewhere warm and wave-rich. For many, that place is Bali—and for good reason.
Our Favourite Places to Freedive in Indonesia

There’s something uniquely meditative about freediving—no tanks, no bubbles, just your breath and the blue. Indonesia, with its vast archipelago and rich marine life, is one of the best places in the world to experience it. From shallow coral gardens to deep vertical walls, here are our favourite freediving destinations across the islands.
1. Amed, Bali
The heart of Bali’s freediving scene, Amed is a dream for beginners and seasoned divers alike. Calm waters, easy shore entry, and stunning reef walls make it an ideal training ground. Plus, it’s home to the iconic USAT Liberty shipwreck in nearby Tulamben. We often wear our Mentawai one piece here—it’s streamlined, flattering, and made to move with you below the surface.
Don’t miss: Training at Apenista or Apnea Bali, and catching sunrise dives with Mount Agung silhouetted in the background.
2. Gili Air, Lombok
Part of the Gili Islands, Gili Air has a vibrant freediving community and relaxed island charm. The water visibility is exceptional, and the reef drop-offs make for exciting exploration. You’ll find freediving schools that blend yoga, breathwork, and water work into one.
Packing tip: A long sleeve suit like the Sulawesi offers UPF protection during long boat sessions and keeps you warm after deep dives.
3. Komodo National Park
Komodo isn’t just for scuba divers—it offers dramatic topography, blue holes, and rich marine life that make it a thrilling freedive location. You’ll encounter strong currents and deep walls—so this spot is best for confident divers with local guidance. The reward? Manta rays, turtles, and unforgettable drop-offs.
Bonus: Our limestone neoprene spring suit is a great choice here, offering flexibility with a little extra insulation in deeper or current-prone dives.
4. Sulawesi (Tojo Una-Una & Togean Islands)
One of Indonesia’s most underrated freediving areas, Sulawesi offers crystal-clear waters, volcanic drop-offs, and very few crowds. It holds a special place in our hearts—we used to run freediving liveaboards here through our sister brand, Ocean Soul Retreat. The depth, serenity, and biodiversity of this region are unmatched.
With early morning dives followed by meditation on deck and sunset swims among coral gardens, this region offers the ultimate freedive retreat experience. Staying connected to breath, body, and ocean flow is central to what we believe in—and Sulawesi reflects that philosophy beautifully.
We always reach for the Sulawesi long sleeve one piece—named after this region—for its UPF protection, compressive support, and effortless grace in the water.
5. Raja Ampat, West Papua
A bucket-list destination for any ocean lover, Raja Ampat offers untouched reefs, enormous biodiversity, and surreal underwater seascapes. Though it’s remote, it’s ideal for slow travel and deep immersion in nature. You’ll want a suit that feels as special as the setting.
Choose one of our sculpted one pieces for freedom, form, and sustainable performance that aligns with the magic of the region.

The Mentawai Islands sit at the top of every surfer’s dream list—and once you’ve been, you’ll know why. Imagine glassy turquoise waves peeling over coral reefs, palm-fringed islands untouched by mass tourism, and a rhythm of life that revolves entirely around the tides.
In the age of fast fashion, it's all too easy to settle for swimwear that’s cheap, trendy, and convenient. But if you've ever owned a flimsy bikini that sagged after a few wears or a one piece swimsuit that turned see-through in the sun, you know that fast fashion often comes at a higher cost than the price tag.
