Best surf beaches in Bali for beginners

Bali is a great destination for beginner surfers, with a variety of breaks that offer gentle waves suitable for learning. We used to run Learn to Surf retreats in Bali with our sister brand, Ocean Soul Retreat - and these are some of our favourite beginner surf locations in Bali:
1. Kuta Beach.
Kuta Beach is one of the most popular surf spots in Bali, and for good reason. It offers a long sandy beach and gentle waves that are perfect for beginners. The best time to surf here is during the dry season, from April to October.
2. Legian Beach.
Legian Beach is located just north of Kuta and offers similar conditions, with gentle waves that are ideal for beginners. It's a popular spot for surf schools, so you'll find plenty of instructors and rental shops.
3. Seminyak Beach.
Seminyak Beach is another popular surf spot that's perfect for beginners. The waves here are gentle and forgiving, and the beach is less crowded than Kuta or Legian.
4. Batu Bolong Beach.
Batu Bolong Beach is located in Canggu and offers a more relaxed vibe than the busier spots in the south. The waves here are gentle and perfect for beginners, and there are plenty of surf schools and rental shops in the area.
These are just a few of our favourite beginner surf locations in Bali. Remember to always surf with caution and respect the locals and the environment. Have fun and enjoy the waves!

From high-fashion editorials to beachside mornings in Byron, Canggu, or California, one piece swimwear has made a serious comeback. But this time, it's not just a retro nod—it’s the ultimate expression of modern confidence. Women are reaching for swimsuits that feel as good as they look, and the one piece has evolved into the hero piece of the season.
There’s something uniquely meditative about freediving—no tanks, no bubbles, just your breath and the blue. Indonesia, with its vast archipelago and rich marine life, is one of the best places in the world to experience it.
